In a blog update, Twitter Safety said it would be putting labels on deceptive tweets starting today.
The platform last took this move in 2020 when it flagged false claims about the U.S. election results from several prominent profiles, including Donald Trumps.
They wrote, “We will begin labeling tweets that may contain misleading information about COVID-19 vaccines, in addition to our continued efforts to get the most harmful, misleading COVID-19 information off the service.
“Since we launched our COVID-19 guidance, we’ve removed more than 8,400 tweets and disputed 11.5 million accounts worldwide.”
