TikTok down: Anger as customers preserve reporting login points and shedding 1000’s of followers

22:30 UPDATE: The vast majority of TikTok users appear to be back online, but many are still having issues hours after the original outage began. TikTok is working on a fix and needs tothanked the fans for their patience. Some users have said that restarting their phones seems to fix the error, even though there is nothing official from TikTok yet.

ORIGINAL STORY: If you’re trying to access TikTok and can’t log in tonight, you are definitely not alone. The hugely popular chat and video app is currently unavailable with thousands of reports pouring in from around the world, and the social media company is now confirming that there is a serious problem. The outage started around 8:30 p.m. with many users angry at not being able to access their accounts while others reported that all of their followers suddenly disappeared. The independent Monitor Down Detector, which monitors online outages, has seen a huge surge in TikTok down reports, while users have also reported problems en masse on Twitter.

The Down Detector outage map states that the TikTok issues are affecting users in the UK and much of Europe. “

Another added: “So do I have to change my username ??? and have 0 followers, 0 followers, 0 likes ??”

In addition to lots of comments on Down Detector, TikTok fans have also flooded Twitter with complaints.

A tweet said: “TikTok seems to be down because mine doesn’t allow me to comment, like or anything like that.”

While another posted a message that said, “Looks like TikTok is down, shows 0 followers and 0 videos and likes where it’s all gone, we can get them back @tiktok_uk.”

There’s currently no word on what is causing the Gremlins or when to fix things, but TikTok has now confirmed the issue with the support team working on a fix.

In a post on Twitter, TikTok said, “The TikTok app is currently experiencing a number of issues that our team is working on to resolve. Thank you for your patience!”

This isn’t the first time this year TikTok users have been unable to access their accounts or lose their followers. A very similar issue occurred on the service in May where the app was telling users that they had 0 TikTok followers.

The good news is that this problem fixed itself after everything normalized, so hopefully the same will happen after the outage tonight.
