Three Cellular Warnings: Improve Your Contract Right now Or Face Greater Payments Subsequent Yr

If you’re using Three Mobile and are thinking of buying a new iPhone 13 or upgrading your current SIM-only plan, getting everything right this weekend is important. That’s because the UK network is making a big change to its terms and conditions on October 1st that is set to give users some seriously shocking bills for the next year.

Right now, anyone who takes out a SIM-only card or buys a new smartphone can access Three’s hugely popular “Go Roam” service. This allows customers to use their devices in over 70 countries without the fear of a huge bill when they return home.

It even includes full 4G internet access, SMS and calls across Europe, the US, Australia and more, all of which are included in the plan.

Three has been offering Go Roam since 2013 and that’s one of the reasons why so many customers have stayed so loyal to the network.

However, things are about to change and some customers could end up with a £ 70 bill taking a two week break.

Three has confirmed that anyone who signs up for a contract, SIM-only plan, or phone plan after October 1 will be affected by a new fee that will take effect from May 2022. Adds £ 2 per day when using a phone in Europe and £ 5 per day when customers travel further afield.

As mentioned earlier, this can mean you get a £ 70 bill for a two week break in Florida or £ 28 if you sit on the beach in Spain.

If you have a family of three of three it can get very expensive with hundreds of pounds in bills. So getting your contract in place now is important if you want to avoid the hike.

A spokesman for Three explained the update: “All customers who sign up for a new contract or upgrade with Three from October 1, 2021, will pay a fee of GBP 2 per day customers when roaming within the EU from May 23, 2022 and customers who signed a contract before October 1, 2021 will not be affected by these changes.

“The new fee ensures that customers know what they are paying for when they use their phone in another country, and only those who pay for the service for roaming. It also ensures that we can continue to invest in our UK network. “

Three now join EE, Vodafone and O2, all of whom have made changes to their roaming plans. Some EE and Vodafone customers will also pay a fee of £ 2 per day from January to use their phones in the EU and with Vodafone.

O2 is doing things a little differently as its customers are now restricted by a fair use policy which means they cannot exceed 25GB of data while outside the UK.

Once this balance is used up, a charge of £ 3.50 for each additional 1 GB will be added to bills. As an example of how much this could cost, a Full HD movie is around 4GB so a night before a movie will cost £ 14.
