After recently completing a long but inspiring maternity leave, I badly needed some new pieces that would be suitable for co-workers and managers (and really anyone outside of my home). I wanted to freshen up my closet to not only inspire my triumphant return to work, but also to break free of the leggings and sweatshirt ruts that were my pandemic for years. (Even though I was pregnant during the pandemic, I don’t feel bad about it at all.)
While actively searching the interwebs for new business casual attire, I came across Madewell’s Larsen plaid blazer ($ 120, originally $ 175) and just knew I had to have it right away. While I have a couple of blazers in my closet, none of them are really fun, and the cut and pattern of this jacket caught my eye immediately. Disclaimer: I’m a sucker for plaid, but my love for classic plaid print was reinforced after a trip to Scotland in the Before Times. You could say I caught the checkered beetle straight from the source, but come on, it’s downright timeless. I had seen black and gray plaid (a fab color combination in itself) but the unique combination of brown and pink on this blazer gives it a little something extra I think.
