The haute couture shows definitely looked different this season. Heavyweights Elie Saab, Givenchy and Zuhair Murad actually skipped Paris this time around. But there was still a lot to see. Especially since the big couturiers were looking for a little escape when we recorded the spring collections 2021 from the comfort of our home.

Iris van Herpen initially proved that sustainable and recycled materials are just as luxurious as new fabrics. At Christian Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by tarot cards. Then it went on to Olivier Theyskens’ second haute couture foray to Azzaro. And this was only the first day.

In Chanel’s presentation, models were walking on a petal-strewn runway wearing a range of dresses suitable for a prom. The vests consisted of the fashion house’s typical tweed and satin shirts, paired with ruffled skirts. Pierpaolo Piccioli stayed in Rome to showcase Valentino’s shop window with an army of models strutting on Instagram-worthy platform heels. Meanwhile, after his’ 80s-inspired collection, Alexandre Vauthier is clearly ready to party.

Kim Jones ended the week with his Fendi debut. Demi Moore, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Christy Turlington all helped flaunt the 19-Look collection by going through a series of Plexiglas sleeves that proved perfect for social distancing.
