Sony Alpha 1 digicam: UK value, launch, and why that is the largest replace in years

If you’re looking to treat yourself to a new camera, check out the latest Sony offering. The Japanese company has announced the launch of its new Alpha 1, which it claims is the “most technologically advanced and innovative camera to date”. Priced at £ 6,500, you’d certainly hope it comes with game-changing features, and that’s exactly what Sony boasts.

The full-frame mirrorless Alpha 1 comes with a 50.1 megapixel Exmor RS image sensor capable of capturing 30 continuous frames per second and capturing crisp 8K video at 30 frames per second. That high-speed performance should make it perfect for photographers who regularly shoot fast-moving objects like sports and wildlife. Thanks to the large buffer memory, up to 155 compressed RAW full-screen images or 165 JPEG full-screen images can be recorded at this lightning-fast speed.

So that the user can keep up with what’s going on inside, the camera has a viewfinder with the world’s first refresh rate of 240 fps, which Sony says provides a smooth view when you’re chasing fast-moving subjects.

And the speed stats don’t stop there as there is a very fast lightning bolt that glows brightly with no sign of lag.

As mentioned earlier, the Alpha 1 can record movies in 8K. However, if that sounds like too much, you can also find stunning 4K footage at up to 120fps. It can also record action in up to 5X slow motion videos. Another benefit of this new camera is how quickly it can transfer content from its memory to your laptop.

According to Sony, the Alpha 1 was designed and configured to support photo and video journalists, as well as sports shooters who need to deliver still images or movies as quickly as possible with advanced connectivity options like 2×2 MIMO support that allows 3.5 times faster wireless FTP Transmission speed offers.

Other extras include a long battery life, a durable magnesium alloy housing, and dust and moisture resistance.

“We always listen to our customers and ask the industry to bring new innovations to the market that are way beyond their expectations.” Yann Salmon Legagneur, Director of Product Marketing, Digital Imaging at Sony Europe, said, “Alpha 1 breaks all existing boundaries and sets new standards for what developers can achieve with a single camera. What excites us most – more than the extensive product features – is Alpha 1’s ability to capture what has never been captured before. This camera opens up a new world of creative possibilities and now makes the impossible possible. “

The Alpha 1 full frame interchangeable lens camera will be available in Europe in March 2021 for approximately £ 6,500.
