Sky broadband down once more! Anger when the web stopped working within the UK when it went down once more
It wasn’t a good week for Sky broadband users. The popular internet service had big problems on Friday August 20th as thousands were unable to access the internet for hours. Now the tech gremlins have returned with reports that some areas of the UK including Worcester, Chippenham and Swindon have suffered another broadband outage.
The latest nightmare seems to have started around 1 p.m. when users were complaining that they couldn’t get online, watch streaming services, or access the internet.
The independent service Down Detector, which monitors the performance of websites and online services by tracking mentions on social media, is showing a huge surge in complaints from disgruntled Sky Broadband customers. At peak times, more than 1,200 customers were complaining about the service every minute.
Skys broadband users have now complained about the issues on social media, saying, “@SkyUK my internet is gone. I spoke to you on the phone and you cut me off and texted me instead of asking me to try and solve the problem myself but I can’t I have no internet Could you please tell me if the internet is down I’m in Gloucestershire
While another tweeted: “@SkyHelpTeam Sky Broadband in Chippenham. Rebooted without internet or calls. Website says no known issues …”
Many were also upset about the recent outage with a disgruntled customer who said, “One more reason to cancel our ridiculously expensive @SkyUK connectivity problems again.”
It’s unclear what is causing the problems or how long things will be offline, but an update from Sky has confirmed that there are ongoing issues in the Swindon area with customers finding they may not get online or make calls / can receive.
Speaking to Express.co.uk after the major outage on Friday, a Sky spokesman said: “We have solved the problem with Sky Broadband. Customers should be able to access websites and apps as usual. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. “
We will continue to bring you updates from Sky as soon as they are announced.
