I am so happy to be friends with Master Perfumers who send me samples of their latest creations! Laurie of Velvet and Sweet Pea’s Purrfumery is a sweetheart and a true animal lover. She shared her latest limited edition project with me, Pangolin Violette Rose. Laurie donates a generous portion of the proceeds to the Pangolin Crisis Fund. Did you know that pangolins are the world’s most traded mammals, used for their meat and scales?
Pangolin Violette Rose has a dark, sexy vintage feel. The perfume starts out very earthy – the aged sandalwood really comes into its own over the jasmine and candied violet. As the fragrance blooms, the petals of rose and violet mix with a hint of cocoa. As you get closer to the base notes of Tamil Nadu, New Caledonia sandalwood, and iris, it takes on a more powdery feel. It’s a very complex fragrance and well worth a collector’s item. In all honesty, my nose isn’t trained enough to fully decipher this mix. But I’ll say I have a feeling if the Peaky Blinders show had a signature scent it would be!
Laurie uses only natural ingredients (no synthetics) and many of her natural ingredients have aged for over 20 years, which helps to deepen the scents and prevent the purchase of over-harvested ingredients like vanilla and sandalwood. Whenever possible, she uses organic, wildly produced or sustainably grown natural substances.
If your budget allows this type of luxury fragrance, I highly recommend it. Not only will you feel like a female gang boss from 1920s Birmingham England … or maybe an Egyptian goddess … wearing it will help save the pangolins too! Velvet and Sweet Pea’s Purrfumery is certified by Leaping Bunny as cruelty free.
You will not be able to get this exact size. Laurie sent it to me for review. But you can get a limited edition solid or liquid perfume at prices between $ 95 and $ 750.
All Velvet and Sweet Pea’s Purrfumery orders include a free sample of Pangolin Violette Rose. So keep that in mind when you shop!
