Rihanna wore a whopping 142 carats of diamonds to perform at the Oscars

Of course, Rihanna had an outfit change at the Oscars. After walking the red carpet in a leather dress by Alaïa, the star and mother-to-be switched to an embellished outfit by Maison Margiela by John Galliano to perform “Lift Me Up” during the awards ceremony on March 12 in Los Angeles. In true fashion, Rihanna’s look was complete with an amazing array of diamond jewelry from De Beers, totaling just over 142 carats.

Styled by Jahleel Weaver, the outfit featured a sheer black blouse with an empire waist, a bustier neckline, and crystal beads arranged in an Art Deco style. Though also black, Rihanna’s pants weren’t the least bit boring, with silver and blue brocade flowers. She paired the set with classic pointed-toe pumps and elbow-length leather gloves. Perhaps all the attention, however, was Rihanna’s diamonds, including a 13-carat cuff bracelet and necklace that alone weighed nearly 38 carats.

“Lift Me Up,” from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, earned Rihanna an Oscar nomination—her first—for Best Original Song. Though she didn’t take home the award, she certainly shone like a winner. Check out the photos of her sparkling performance outfit.
