The PS5 is currently the world’s most sought-after game console. The global PS5 shortage is mainly due to a lack of console chips, compounded by distribution and manufacturing issues due to the coronavirus pandemic. With almost no stocks, many PS5 players get frustrated for a long time.
This resulted in many gamers not landing a PS5 in time for Christmas.
There were even indications that equity shortages would last far longer than feared.
Fortunately, that sad state of affairs could soon change, and it is rumored that more PS5s will arrive in the UK shortly.
Twitter accounts devoted to monitoring PS5 inventory reports claim that more Playstation 5 inventory will start arriving in many stores starting today, Thursday January 7th.
Will GAME, Argos and Smyths replenish PS5 this week?
Express.co.uk contacted GAME, Argos and Smyths this morning and will update this article accordingly.
Smyths Toys released an announcement on Monday January 4th that consoles should arrive sometime this month.
However, there is no evidence that Argos does not have a PS5 in stock.
A statement posted on Argos’ dedicated PS5 page stated, “Sorry, PlayStation®5 is currently unavailable.
“We won’t have any more inventory for the rest of 2020.”
There is a faint glimmer of hope, however, as Argos stores – including those that operate in a Sainsbury’s store – continue to operate for home delivery.
Since these operate a collection of prepaid orders and returns, there is a possibility that reorders will be placed very soon.
Both the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition are unfortunately listed as out of stock at Game.
The computer game specialist also does not offer any references to PS5 reorder dates.
With GAME stores closed due to the Tier 5 coronavirus lockdown, it is difficult to find out more about the PS5 storage situation.
Given GAME’s position as one of the UK’s most popular PS5 retailers, the retailer is likely to be one of the first to receive new inventory.
The Ps5Instant Twitter account said more consoles will be arriving at “most retailers” between today and January 12th.
On Tuesday 5th January they added: “Unfortunately, due to Brexit, a significant proportion of EU businesses will no longer be able to deliver to us due to changes in VAT and additional fees will be charged for delivery. Please note this for all published PS5 stocks in the EU. “
Black PS5 with PS2 theme:
The good news is a retro-styled black PS5 console, and the DualSense controller will hit stores tomorrow, Friday, January 8th.
The decidedly retro design of the black PS5 reflects the look of the legendary PS2, which is still the best-selling PlayStation console to this day.
Production is also limited to just 304 units, which is said to be a step backwards from the time the PS2 was originally released: 03/04/00.
Ps5Instant tweeted yesterday, “On January 8th at 8pm UK time, limited edition black PS5s will be released for pre-order.
“Due to the adjustment, they will be above the EIA. They ship to the UK, payment via PayPal & card. “
