Windows fans are about to see shiny new hardware … and it could make your current PC look very dated. Microsoft has just confirmed plans to hold a special Surface event on September 22, 2021 that will showcase the next generation of laptops. Microsoft has just teased that the company’s “what’s next” event will showcase the company.
The Redmond-based company posted an image of a glowing laptop screen on its official corporate blog along with the words, “Join us and see what’s next.” Although no further information was released in the post, it is believed that Microsoft will upgrade its popular Surface portable devices, which have become a huge hit since they were first released in 2017.
Microsoft currently sells a number of Surface-branded devices, including the Surface Laptop, Surface Pro, Surface Book, and Surface Studio. It has also launched over-ear and in-ear headphones, all designed and developed by the same department headed by Chef Panos Panay. He was also the brain behind Windows 11, which is designed to complement the simple, sleek hardware Microsoft has been producing for half a decade.
Microsoft’s next generation of Surface computers will likely all enjoy performance improvements, a new design, and a number of improved features. That’s because they almost certainly come with Windows 11 preinstalled.
Earlier this week it was announced that Microsoft would launch Windows 11 on October 5th, and these new devices could be among the first to ship with this updated operating system. In a statement, Microsoft said, “We’re excited to announce that Windows 11 will be available on October 5, 2021.
“On that day, Windows 11 free upgrade will be introduced on eligible Windows 10 PCs, and PCs that have Windows 11 preinstalled will be available for purchase. Windows 11 brings you a new Windows experience – closer to what you got love. “
Although Windows 11 will be a free upgrade on compatible devices, Microsoft has confirmed that the software won’t be released to everyone at once. Instead, this is going to be a slow take-off, so the only way you can get Windows 11 before your friends are guaranteed is to buy a new laptop. That could make the new Surface PCs look more enticing than ever.
In addition to announcing new Surface devices, Microsoft is also expected to bring a new Duo smartphone to the world. This refreshed smartphone is said to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and a vastly improved camera system.
Microsoft has worked hand in hand with Google to ensure that its Android operating system can handle the dual displays. While Samsung has had huge success with foldable phones like the sold-out Fold 3 and Flip 3, both of these have a single screen that folds in half. In contrast, Microsoft uses two displays side by side, with content being able to run over both – like the external screen connected to your laptop on your home desk. The first generation Surface Duo was widely acclaimed for its hardware.
However, the reviewers criticized the device for its flawed software, which is said to increase productivity by shipping with apps like Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, and others.
