Maternity shoot at home outfit ideas

2

When I was 30 weeks pregnant, my photographer Mun flew to San Diego for the day to photograph my pregnant belly. We had so many ideas but because I was so stressed out during pregnancy we decided to keep things simple. We shot indoors with the sun high in the sky. And then, after a long late lunch, we headed to the beach (more on that soon). If you’re looking for inspiration on what to wear to photograph your belly in the comfort of your bedroom or living room, here are my outfit ideas for an at-home pregnancy shoot:

Baggy jeans & button down

As a Californian girl, I’m all about denim. When I’m not pregnant, I live in jeans and button-downs. So it made sense to wear my everyday uniform during pregnancy. Some women borrow their partner’s jeans to achieve the look. Luckily baggy jeans were great last year. So I had a pair of jeans to slide down my thighs at the start of my third trimester.

I love the look of denim on denim. So I paired my unbuttoned jeans with my favorite denim maternity shirt. But you can make any oversized button down shirt you have in your closet.

Sports bra and boy’s shorts set

The female body is truly remarkable. So I’m all for pregnant women posing naked with their tummy. I personally don’t feel comfortable showing everything. So a sporty underwear set felt more up my alley. As a kid of the ’90s, I alluded to some of my favorite Calvin Klein ads with my bralette and boyshorts. But there are also many options without logos. I have mixed the set individually as well as paired it with my favorite white maternity button down shirt.

My top advice for an at-home pregnancy shoot? Have fun! Mun and I played music and laughed. We brought the puppies into the mix to cuddle and lick. And just celebrated baby while pictures were taken. No matter what you wear, as long as you wear a smile and proudly show off your pumps, the photos will be beautiful.
