I get so many compliments when I wear these leather sneakers

I’ve never called myself a sneakerhead or a shoe connoisseur, but one of the many perks of working as a shopping editor is that I’m kept up to date with the latest and greatest style finds – and sneakers are no exception. While there’s no shortage of athletic shoes in my wardrobe, I feel like there’s a desperate need for a pair of everyday sneakers that are stylish, comfortable, and fit my everyday lifestyle better than my usual Nikes—think less about workouts and marathons, and more rendezvous at my local Trader Joe’s and coffee shop. Instead of waiting for the latest drop from SNKRS, I sought shoe inspiration from some of my favorite stars and discovered the Koio Retro Runner Sneakers ($295).

Obviously there’s a lot to love about these stylish sneakers – hence the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Joe Jonas are both notable fans. Not only are they made from sustainable materials, but they come in a variety of neutral colors that blend seamlessly with any outfit – and even help to accentuate a more understated look. I’ve been wearing the shoes nonstop this spring and couldn’t sustain my newfound sneaker obsession any longer. Read on to see full product details and why these are the most versatile shoes to add to your spring wardrobe.

What I like about these Koio sneakers

First and foremost, I love how comfortable this shoe is despite its sophisticated design. In the past I felt like I had to choose one or the other – if I wanted something stylish, I had to be prepared to be uncomfortable. And conversely, my most comfortable shoes have rarely been my cutest. But these Koio sneakers have proven to be the exception. Unlike other leather sneakers, these shoes have a softer fit that’s easy to move in and doesn’t feel like they’re hugging my ankle too tightly. Despite their livelier design, I appreciate that my foot still feels fully supported – thanks in part to the style’s cushioned sockliner, which is made from recycled foam and rubber. The shoe has so many unique, sustainable touches built into its design, which I love because it reminds me how much the brand’s ethos aligns with my own – and serves as a base shoe that I really feel good about can. Most of all, I just adore the look of these sneakers. Everything about the style screams “everyday sneakers,” from the neutral colorway to the low-cut collar to the shoe’s resemblance to a classic tennis sneaker.

What is worth mentioning

The shoes are made from an Italian leather and suede material which is so chic but also shows dirt quite easily – particularly the suede parts. After only a few wears, I noticed dark stains on the material and scuffs along the bottom of the shoe that were much more noticeable than some of my other white sneakers – namely my Air Force 1s. Frankly, any light-colored shoe is bound to show more wear than a darker style, so I definitely wouldn’t say it’s a fault of that particular sneaker or brand. However, given the higher price of these sneakers, it’s important to note that these shoes require a little more maintenance and regular cleaning than a traditional rubber shoe. I clean mine once a month to maintain their condition and recommend wearing them only as an everyday sneaker and not for athletic or high-intensity activities.

Who are these Koio sneakers best for?

These sneakers are ideal for anyone looking to invest in a chic, quality sneaker that they can wear for everyday wear rather than just as a sporty style.

Are these Koio sneakers worth the money?

Given their durable yet soft leather frame, versatile colorway, and thoughtful, eco-friendly design, I’d say these sneakers are definitely worth the money. I love that they’re a style I wear well thanks to the lasting makeup of the shoe and I’m confident that they will be a staple sneaker in my wardrobe long term.

Where are these Koio sneakers available?

These sneakers are available at Koio, Nordstrom ($177, originally $295), Neiman Marcus ($295), and Free People ($295).
