How do I get an NHS Covid Cross in your telephone? How do I add an NHS Covid Cross to Apple Pockets?

This week, Boris Johnson confirmed that Plan B measures have been taken to stop the spread of the highly contagious variant of Omicron coronavirus. The new measures, announced on Wednesday during a press conference, will require a face mask to be used in most indoor spaces such as cinemas, theaters and places of worship, which is required in addition to face coverings for public transport. Anyone visiting venues such as nightclubs or facilities with many people must show an NHS Covid passport in England too.

The NHS Covid Pass must be presented to attend indoor events with 500 or more attendees, non-seated outdoor events with 4,000 or more attendees, and all events with 10,000 or more attendees.

The NHS Covid Pass indicates that you received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, but evidence of a negative lateral flow test can also be provided to obtain an NHS Covid Pass.

The new face covering measures went into effect on Friday 10th December, while showing a Covid passport at the above settings will be mandatory from Wednesday 15th December.

If you’re wondering how to get an NHS Covid Pass or add an NHS Covid Pass to your Apple Wallet, Express.co.uk is here to help. We have put together everything you need to know below …

HOW DO I GET AN NHS COVID PASSPORT ON YOUR PHONE? HOW TO ADD APPLE WALLET?

You can purchase an NHS Covid Pass either through the official NHS app (which is used for GP appointments, not the Covid Track and Trace app) for iOS and Android devices, or through the NHS Covid Pass Website received.

To get an NHS Covid Pass, you first need to create an NHS login – for this you need your NHS number and also provide some information about yourself.

You can set this up the first time you visit the NHS app or the NHS Covid Pass website, but the NHS recommends doing so two weeks before you need a Covid Pass.

When you receive an NHS Covid Pass through the smartphone app, log in first and then go to the Your Health tab.

The first option you see above should be the NHS Covid Pass. Tap the prompt to be taken to the screen where you choose whether you need a Covid Passport for domestic use or for international travel.

Once you have selected the pass you want, you will be greeted with a screen with the required QR code for the pass.

You then have the option of downloading as a PDF, receiving a copy by email and – if you are using the iPhone app – adding your Covid Pass to your Apple Wallet.

If you do the latter, you’ll see a screen that shows your Covid Pass – and just tap Add in the top right to add it to your Apple Wallet.

If you are trying to get an NHS Covid Pass on the website, you need to follow a similar step. You will need to log into the website with your NHS login and then choose either a domestic or passport.

After you have selected the Covid Pass you want, you will see a screen where you can download the Covid Pass as a PDF or receive it by email.

These two screens in the NHS app and website also give you the option to view your Covid-19 records.

HOW LONG DOES A COVID PASS TAKE?

If you have received at least two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, your Covid-Pass is valid for 30 days. If you use the result of a lateral flow or PCR test, the Covid Pass is valid for 48 hours after a negative test result.

Alternatively, if you have had a positive PCR test result in the last six months and have completed self-isolation, you will also receive a Covid pass that is valid for 30 days. However, this 30-day period is updated each time you log in – and is a maximum of 180 days.

The NHS advises that when downloading your NHS digital COVID passport as a PDF, always check the expiration date before using it.

The NHS app may ask you to confirm your phone number when you sign up. If you don’t confirm, your NHS COVID passport will be valid for 72 hours.
