If you missed Apple’s blockbuster event in September, a new iPhone is on the way. Four new iPhones, to be precise. The iPhone 13, 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max are 5.4 to 6.7 inches in size, offer redesigned sports cameras, new colors and longer battery life. With the introduction of new iPhone models, last year’s iPhone 12 range has also fallen in price, so it’s a good time to upgrade whether you want the latest and greatest or something newer.
The cheapest way to own a smartphone is usually to buy the device directly and then choose your own SIM deal. There are several advantages to this approach. First of all, you own the handset from day one instead of paying off over the next 12, 24 or 36 months. That means you can trade it in for extra cash if you decide to switch to a different model … and you won’t still face months of bills for a phone that you no longer have in your pocket.
And most importantly, you can switch between SIM offers as you wish. It’s impossible to know exactly how much cellular data you need. Hence, it’s easy to overcompensate and get a two-year contract with tons of data that you end up consuming. Or, as we’ve seen in the last year or so, circumstances change and you pay more than the quotas for free data roaming and buckets of 5G data you don’t need.
