Far fewer hits than failures at New York Vogue Week in fall 2021

Despite the ongoing challenges during the pandemic, one has to admire the designers who attended New York Fashion Week in Fall 2021. While the majority were producing lookbooks, designers like Jason Wu and Ulla Johnson opted for conventional runway shows (with no audience). The heavyweights Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren have been completely removed from the calendar.

Wu started with a supermarket full of groceries and flowers. His models showed fresh midi skirts, coats with fringes and knee-high boots. Former Yeezy designer Maisie Wilen made models walk on the water wearing a range of neon looks. The series again delivered luxury clips. Minimalist brand Co’s Vogue-worthy lookbook featured supermodel Kirsty Hume, while Johnson showed off a superbly constructed collection of rich prints.
