Android app crash bug: Google releases a repair, however customers are nonetheless affected by annoying glitches

A frustrated user tweeted: “Samsung team, my apps keep crashing since yesterday and the Android WebView system is already disabled on my phone. It cannot be removed or anything can be done. What should be done?”

Another added: “Please help! Google apps keep crashing on the Samsung Galaxy S8. I cannot install the Webview app for the Android system.”

Google has now published more advice on its help page for anyone suffering from the glitch. In a post, the company said, “In some rare cases, a manual update of WebView or Chrome may fail to complete on Android 10 or 11. Here are other steps users can take to resolve the issue: Open the app “Settings” on your phone. • Tap Apps & notifications> Google Play Store> Storage & Cache> Clear data

Note that this will delete some of your Play Store settings like parental controls, auto-update settings, etc. Check these settings again after following these steps. Repeat the steps above to update WebView and Chrome . “

Google also confirmed that the Android team will automatically push changes to users who still need updates in the next 24 hours to address any remaining edge cases.
