Anastasia Iced Out Stick Highlighter Overview & Swatches

1

Anastasia Iced Out Stick Highlighter ($ 34.00 for 0.28 oz.) Is a light, warmer brown base with a light, medium-tone gold bead and slightly larger gold speckles. Its base color was significantly warmer than the powder highlighter of the same name (which has an icy base … as the name would suggest). For me, the two end up looking more similar than not because of my complexion, but the very light and the deeper ones will find it noticeably different compared to the powder highlighter.

The texture was slightly emollient, thin, and quickly dried to a more powdery finish. It was better for me to apply on bare skin as, with the thinner formula and bigger glitters, it seemed to dry too quickly to stain when applied over base products. It had, as marketed, a semi-transparent, buildable paint cover that lasted decently for seven hours.

Formula overview

$ 34.00 / 0.28 oz. – $ 121.43 per ounce

The formula is said to have an “adjustable glow” with an “ultra-gentle” consistency that “melts easily” on the skin. The opacity was described as “buildable” which was true – most shades were medium to semi-opaque, but the more emollient nature of the product made it bleed slightly during practice so they were more buildable after applying them to my face.

The consistency was slightly softening, thin, and glides well, but dried quickly and had a powdery finish. It looked a little drier and wasn’t as flattering on my normal to dry skin as other cream-to-powder formulas, so it may be better for oilier skin types. I had no issues with the product lifting the foundation, so it worked fine on both bare skin and complexion products – as long as I used my fingertips to apply and blend.

Because of the fast drying time, I found fingertips to be the most flexible and easiest to apply the product. Using a brush made job more prone to unevenly, bunching up, or lifting base products. The formula lasted between seven and eight hours for me.
