[unpaid/sample/affiliate] I really don’t know how a ‘double cleanse’ became so popular – beauty brands must have been rubbing their hands with glee when the notion of having to cleanse twice to have done it properly was put in our heads. You generally don’t need to cleanse your skin twice if you have a decent cleanser. You may need to remove your make up and then cleanse but in many instances, that’s not essential either. However, you know your own skin best and if a double cleanse feels best for you then it’s right for you. For me, not really. That’s why I was quite excited to see the new Wonderskin Beyond Clean Melt-It-All Cleansing Balm – not only is the packaging novel, but the formula itself is delicious.
Using Centella Asiatic (known for soothing) and chamomile in a base of eight botanical oils of such softness you wonder how it comes out of the pot (wait til you see), it claims to remove everything – make up, spf and so on – without the need for a go-over. In fact, it’s giving a shove in the face to all double cleansing by saying that this one product will do nicely.
Yes – look at that! You twist the lid around and it shaves you a curl of balm. Once you’re finished, you can buy a refill. When I first opened the box I didn’t really understand the mechanics and wondered how on earth I’d get the balm out of the pot but it works so well and one complete curl is plenty for your whole face. The balm itself is, I would say, at the tipping point of liquid being solid so it’s somewhat miraculous that it doesn’t come out as sludge. But it doesn’t. It’s an easy, comfortable cleanse that did indeed remove all my make up – you might need to pay extra attention to mascara laden lashes but it’s fulfilling the promise of once being enough. It’s £24 HERE. I like it for both the novelty and the result.
