The Up Next Edit, Vol. 2

When Carly asked if she could add in a Gen-Z approved edit, I thought, absolutelyhow fun! I love seeing what she has her eye on. She’s typically a step ahead of me so it generally means that in a few months, I’ll want it too. You can read the first one here if you want more.

Grace and I share a funny little crossroads when it comes to our style. Some days it leans more Grace, other days it swings my way, but it’s always fascinating to see where our taste overlaps—and where it doesn’t. That balance has pushed me to shop a little braver and reach for pieces I wouldn’t normally consider.

The Up Next Edit, Vol.2

I’ve come to accept that my style really hits its stride once the temperature drops. Cold weather gives me an excuse to layer, accessorize, and pull out pieces that actually do something. Watching Grace settle into her winter wardrobe has only encouraged me to reach for things that feel a little more elevated, a little more structured, and honestly a little more grown. Summer is when I dress younger and lean into whatever trend my generation is cycling through, so it always makes me laugh to see how dramatically my style shifts with the seasons. Maybe it’s the fresh perspective that comes with turning 28 or maybe I’m finally figuring out which pieces feel the most like me. Either way, winter is winning.

A few things in particular….

  • Grace and I both got our hands on this Toteme dinner jacket and I have not stopped thinking about it since. With quality over quantity being the mantra of my late twenties, I am convinced this one will be in my closet forever.
  • Madewell has really stepped it up lately. The quality feels better, the designs feel sharper, and these ankle boots genuinely shocked me in the best way. They give total Khaite energy without the Khaite price tag.
  • I am officially turning a new leaf and wearing jewelry. It never felt quite right on me, but I’m starting to think I was just choosing the wrong pieces. This sculptural ring feels like the perfect correction.
  • At first glance, these 90s loose jeans from the men’s section at GAP might seem like a bold choice, but they are the perfect denim. I promise. Just try them and thank me later.
  • And while we’re on the menswear train, I have to confess my shock when I ordered three colors of this cashmere sweater from Banana Republic. I grabbed an XS and the fit is spot-on.
