The fall leather bags (and vegan bags) you’ll reach for again and again

Founded by queer Mexican designer Alejandro Miramontes, Sangre de Mar is a handbag and travel accessories brand that embodies the vibrant spirit of Mexico’s Pacific Coast. Miramontes grew up in Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta and joined his mother as a runner, helper and saleswoman for her leather goods store, where she sold leather jackets, belts, bags and more. “Not only did these experiences shape my creative spirit, they also gave me an unwavering respect for creativity, resilience and the power to build something from nothing.”

After working in the corporate fashion industry in Mexico, he moved to Vancouver, Canada, driven to design leather pieces inspired by both his mother’s resilience and the beauty of Mexico’s coast. That’s when Sangre de Mar was born. Crafted from recycled and plant-based leather, each piece is designed to last and made with respect for the land, people and sea that inspired it.

This fall, Sangre de Mar is adding a new color to its Riviera Weekender: a deep, warm orange reminiscent of fallen leaves and seasonal pumpkins. Its spacious interior and robust design make it the perfect companion for weekend trips or short trips and add a touch of autumn color to any travel outfit.
