Taylor Swift’s Jewels—and the Meaning Behind Them—at Last Night’s AFC Championship

While less about the accessories than last year’s AFC Championship look, Taylor Swift’s outfit at last night’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills had its fair share of significant jewels.

Steven Battelle necklace in 18k yellow gold with an ancient Greek 1st century BC Intertwined Snakes Coin and rose-cut diamond, $3,090

Most notably, the 14-time Grammy winner wore an 18k yellow gold necklace with an ancient Greek coin pendant by designer Steven Battelle. The 1st century BC silver tetradrachm featured two intertwined snakes in the cista mystica, a sacred basket used in ancient mystery religions to hold hallowed items, thereby a symbol of secrecy and myth. “It was the custom of young girls of high rank to bear this mystic chest at public festivals,” according to 1stDibs where the design is listed, making it a fitting choice for someone of Swift’s status to wear to a spectacle such as a playoff game. Even more, snakes have long been associated with Swift’s public image, particularly her album Reputation, leaving fans to speculate if the artist is hinting at a rerelease.

Cartier Panthère de Cartier watch in yellow gold with brilliant-cut diamonds, $32,200

On her left wrist, Swift wore her diamond-encrusted Panthère de Cartier watch (as debuted at her friend Ashley Avignone’s birthday party in New York City last month) worth over $32,000. She paired the watch with a knife-edge 18k yellow gold and diamond ring from Louis Vuitton’s Le Damier de Louis Vuitton fine jewelry collection (available in three widths) on her index finger. On her other wrist, she wore a yellow gold bracelet from the same collection.

The rest of the look was head-to-toe Louis Vuitton: a Monogram jacket, LV-embellished beanie, trunk chain wallet, ankle boots, and, later (when the Chiefs were celebrating on the field), Medallion gloves. She wore a similar—if not the exact same—pleated black miniskirt to last year’s AFC Championship Game that ultimately may have proven to be a good luck charm.

Her other half, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, also leaned heavily into the labels with a full Thom Browne look on arrival.
