Prequel Skincare Review – The Stripe

The skincare brand that has impressed me most this year is easily Prequel. This isn’t in any way sponsored (I’m using affiliate links as always). I’m picky about sponsors and would never accept a sponsorship from a brand I don’t truly love, but I wanted to make sure I said this outright because the price points are so low. And for someone whose skincare recommendations can get pricy (I am who I am, sorry!), this might jump out. I get it. But this brand is truly fantastic and very affordable. I’d happily pay double, even triple, for most of these!

Six products (seven, if you count both barrier creams!) in particular have really stood out to me; we will talk about those today.

Prequel skincare review

By the way, if you also suffer from mega dry skin, you might enjoy this post: When Your Skin is Wayyyy Dry.

BARRIER THERAPY RICH SKIN PROTECTANT CREAM

The original barrier cream was my entry to the world of Prequel. It was over the winter, my skin was super dry and itchy, and nothing helped. And then I tried this cream, and within a week or two, everything (rough, bumpy patches, itchiness, flakes) had cleared up. Then they launched a richer version, which, of course, I like even more. You can use this on your face as well. I don’t really do that, though it’s great if you’ve had a treatment and want something super soothing.

UREA ADVANCED RELIEF MOISTURIZING MILK

I also use this lighter lotion for body, almost as if it were a serum. After an everything shower, nothing is better than applying this all over my body, letting it sink in a little, and then apply the barrier therapy cream. It contains 10% urea to help smooth and soften the skin (urea is also great if you suffer from KP!). If my skin weren’t so dry, this would work as my only moisturizer. It might in the summer!

HALF & HALF FLUID MOISTURIZER

This is a milky essence that you can apply to your skin before your serums. It’s super lightweight (it feels like a creamy liquid) and contains ceraminds, peptides, and aminio acids. If you are someone with oily skin it might work as an everyday moisturizer. For me (part lizard person), it serves as the ultimate base layer in getting the plump, dewy skin I am aiming for.

MULTI-QUENCH PLUMPING HYDRATION SERUM

This serum is $28 and rivals some of the fanciest plumping serums I have tried. It’s a godsend in my routine, providing 48 hour hydration! It contains polyglutamic acid (super hydrating), glycerin, osmolytes, and ectoin to moisturize and improve the skin barrier. Immediately after appying, my skin is noticeably more hydrated and plump. I love it.

GLEANSER NON-DRYING GLYCERIN CLEANSER

I will never be over this cleanser. My favorite way to use it is as the second step in a double cleanse. It has the best texture: velvety and smooth. It takes off any residual makeup (even stubborn mascara and liner) without a lick of irritation. The bottle is gigantic, it feels like a luxury product, and it’s only $18. I can’t get enough.

FOOT RESCUE ADVANCED RESTORATIVE TREATMENT

This foot cream was the second Prequel product I tried. OMG. It is incredible for dry feet and cracked heels. My only complaint is that I wish it came in a bigger tube. Truly, it is so rich and emollient, and it contains 15% pure urea + malic and salicylic acids to help exfoliate. Apply it before bed, and you’ll wake up with smoother, softer feet, in just a night.
