Maramenos & Pateras Ribbon Earrings: Britt’s Pick

Sculptural, textured gold jewelry may be having a major moment, but for Greek jeweler Maramenos & Pateras, it’s part of a design language decades in the making.

The heritage brand, which will be exhibiting at the JCK show in Las Vegas this week, is reviving its Ribbons collection, first introduced in 1970. With this reimagining of some of the house’s earliest signature styles, Maramenos & Pateras transforms coiled ribbons of intricately textured gold into modern jewels—like the earrings and necklace you see here.

“As we approach our 60th anniversary, we are relaunching iconic collections from the past, celebrating nostalgia, timeless inspiration, and enduring design,” says designer Antonis Pateras. “The decision to revisit Ribbons today was not driven purely by nostalgia, although emotional connection certainly plays a role in how iconic creations are rediscovered by new generations. More importantly, we felt that the collection’s expressive language—defined by fluidity, movement, and symbolic strength—feels remarkably relevant today.”

Relevant is the word: Featuring movement, dimensionality, and a woven appearance, the new Ribbons pieces tap directly into today’s consumer appetite for substantial gold jewelry with artisanal character. That sculptural aesthetic also just happens to be a long-standing hallmark of the brand.

“The Ribbons collection draws inspiration from the elegance of [Olympic] winners and the ribbons once worn in their hair, reinterpreted through a contemporary yet timeless lens,” Pateras says. “The renewed Ribbons collection has already received exceptional attention and an enthusiastic response both in Greece and internationally, reaffirming the enduring appeal of its design language.”

Maramenos & Pateras expects a similar reception when the jewels are presented at JCK in Las Vegas.

“For us, true design is timeless,” Pateras says. “Certain ideas return not because they belong to the past, but because they continue to resonate with the present in meaningful ways.”
