Personally, when I think of celebrities who seem to have not aged a day throughout my life, Julianne Moore is undoubtedly one. Throughout her decades-long career in Hollywood, Moore has solidified herself as one of the most timeless actresses, both in talent and looks. Her healthy auburn strands and ageless complexion have accompanied her throughout many on-screen roles. From the 2001 adaptation of Hannibal to more recent endeavors like The Room Next Door, it’s hard to believe today is the North Carolina native’s 64th birthday. To celebrate her new year, we rounded up some of the best beauty tips Moore has shared to keep us all looking as radiant as she does.

Julianne Moore’s Best Beauty Tips

Don’t Be Afraid of Aging

In the world we live in today, it’s far too common to see the narrative that aging is a flaw. As Moore told WSJ in 2022, her realistic, healthy perspective on aging plays a large role in her beauty philosophy. “People have talked to me about aging for as long as I’ve been in the business,” the then 61-year-old star told the outlet. “This idea that it’s something we have control over, or that there’s a good or bad way to do it, is simply not true. I actually think that when we really do feel aging is when we see it in relation to how much life we’ve lived.”

Stay Hydrated

It sounds simple, but as Moore told NewBeauty in her 2015 cover interview, water is one of her biggest secrets to healthy, glowing skin. “I’m still not totally sure what it is or what it does, but I think it is working for me.” In the same interview, she shared her unusual hydration hack for healthy skin. “My big thing is that I will rotate coffee and green tea throughout the year and I think that helps my skin. I’ll drink coffee for six months, then switch to green tea for six months.” Similarly, she relies on water-enhancing supplements for healthy skin from the inside-out. “The first thing I do [after waking up] is drink two big glasses of water with chlorophyll in it,” she revealed to WSJ. “Someone told me a long time ago that it was really good for your skin, so I’ve always done it.”

Be Aware of What’s in Your Products

Another key factor in Moore’s timeless beauty routine is a keen awareness of what she’s putting on her face. Moore has often rocked a red lip, but as she revealed in an interview with Glamour, her perspective on the product changed since discovering crushed bugs make most red pigments. “I was originally like, ‘What?‘,” Moore said when she heard about the practice. “Especially for something that’s not a need. I mean, lipstick is a want; it’s not a need. So it’s great that [Hourglass] found this formulation, and it’s also a really great color. I have a hard time with red; sometimes they’re too blue, sometimes they’re too orangey, but this one, called Red 0, is a really, really good one.”

She Takes Skin Care Seriously

While Moore is adamant about not taking the anti-aging hype too seriously, she doesn’t mess around when it comes to preventative skin care, as she told Vogue. “My skin-care routine has gotten more and more complicated as I get older,” she told the outlet. She then outlined her routine, which focuses on softening fine lines. In terms of products, Moore shouted out Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Cleanser ($12), Biologique Recherche Elastine ($76), iS Clinical’s Pro-Heal Serum ($150), Environ’s Antioxidant Defence Creme, Jillian Dempsey’s Gold Sculpting Bar ($195) for a quick face massage and finally a hydrating SPF.
