[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Thank you Jo Malone London for giving us faith that summer will come! Is it just me, or has this felt like the longest winter in history? I don’t usually feel it dragging so much but oh my – March cannot come quick enough.
I would say that Beach Blossom has captured the mood of the sea, the sun and the beach to the point that it’s giving me Duran Duran Rio vibes. Fun fact: the yacht in the Rio video (linen clad Simon Le Bon – who didn’t want to?), the Eilean, was revamped and updated in around 2017 into a sleeker, even whiter and yes, let’s just say it – sexier – version of its former self.
Jo Malone London Beach Blossom has a drift-from-the-bow nuance – the scent you might get approaching a lush and vegetal island with the sun high and the aroma of native plants catching the breeze. It’s a soft scent – the opening is kick of Mojito with lime and mint that’s quickly followed by solar warmth and a sensual languidity. In the background is coconut water that you’ll pick out from time to time – if you go looking, it won’t necessarily appear but now and again, you get a waft of it. There’s also the smallest hint of sun tan lotion but it’s hard to pinpoint the notes – maybe it’s more of a nuance – and the entire arrangement is given a creaminess by tonka. If you like a big fragrance, this isn’t the one for you but if you prefer subtilty and a quiet confidence (and have your linens ironed and ready), it’s very much for you.
