Welp, March 2025, no pressure, but we’re looking to you to save us.
Save us from the erasure of our history, our safety and our human rights by reminding us of how Rebellious, strong and unstoppable we truly are.
Rebellious Magazine is counting on you, March, to successfully launch our most ambitious solo fundraising effort to date, the Lucky 13 Campaign, to mark our 13th birthday. Our goal is to raise $13,000 from now until March 2026, and we can’t do it without you.
Or without you, readers: Now more than ever, the world needs Rebellious Magazine for Women. And, let’s face it, it needs Rebellious folks like all of you.
If Rebellious has ever informed, entertained, inspired or inflamed you, we hope you’ll pitch in to our Lucky 13 Campaign. $13 — or multiples of $13, wink — is a lucky place to start.
Through Laurie Fanelli‘s stunning live music and comedy coverage and Janet Arvia‘s insightful feminist film reviews and culture pieces, we’re here to remind you there’s beauty in the world.
Art is transgressive and transformative, and Rebellious is here to document its impact on all of us in the best city in the world.
And when your rage at the world’s injustices needs a voice, when you need someone to say the things you don’t have words for, Michelle Duster‘s pull-no-punches column, Centuring Ourselves, is here for you.
Behind the scenes, Social Media Director (and the world’s best older sister) Valerie Hawkins engages with all of you on Facebook, Bluesky, Spoutible, Threads, X/Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. (I’m the one tinkering around on YouTube — please Subscribe if you haven’t already!) Special Projects Editor Princess McDowell keeps the Feminist Agenda filled with events and is the voice behind our newsletter. Onicia Muller has not only been featured in Rebellious, she’s a writer, supporter and all-around hype woman. Jera Brown is here to answer your sex, sexuality and sexual health questions (and our SEO tells us you definitely have them). If you’re also not OK, Of Course I’m Not OK podcast co-host Katie Morell and I talking all about it.
We’ll be celebrating this Women’s History Month with looks backward and forward while highlighting the artists and activists making history today.
We are Chicago’s favorite feminist magazine, and we wouldn’t be here without you.
Thank you for 13 lucky years of covering and loving on Chicago.
In Rebellion,
Karen Hawkins
