“A League of Their Own” hit home at the GLAAD Media Awards last night, taking home the award for Outstanding New TV Series. The updated version of Penny Marshall’s 1992 film will conclude with a four-episode second season on Prime Video, with a premiere date yet to be announced. Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson co-created the queer dramedy about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.
Christina Aguilera accepted the Advocate for Change Award and used her acceptance speech to call out bigotry. “I have a big problem with injustice, especially towards the trans community who have experienced so much suffering,” the five-time Grammy winner said, according to Deadline. “That’s why I always hoped that I could use my music to speak up for others who don’t have a voice. That’s why I’m so grateful to GLAAD for this award and for the work you do to make the LGBTQ community heard.”
Margaret Cho hosted the event, which will stream on Hulu on April 12.
