[unpaid/affiliate] Why is it all the fun t-shirts have a round neck? I’m not a fan – I don’t like a strangled feeling and I don’t like the kind of meercat look that a t-shirt that grips the bottom of your neck can give. A wide round neck is another thing but don’t give me anything huggy round my throat, thank you.
Luckily, M&S have seen the light and not only are there five plain colours but two stripes as well, one in red and one in black and white (above). This is my ideal t-shirt – loose, tuckable and cool. It’s 50% modal and 50% linen which is what gives it that easy-wear softness and if you’ve been wondering what to wear with your new wide-leg jeans, this is it. It’s £17.50 HERE in sizes 6-24. I would honestly run for these because they’re going to sell out. The plain t-shirts are £15 HERE, available in the same size options in pure cotton.
You need a t shirt to wear with a suit and loafers? Look no further than the Cos V neck in ecru. I love a sloppy t but they never look quite right with more tailored or formal wear – this cotton jersey version has just enough structure to look exactly right. It’s also a tight woven texture with 5% elastane so no bra showing underneath. It’s £25 HERE. Sizes are S to XL with a size chart to help you decide.
Finally, the Monsoon Tilly Trim Jersey T-shirt as an upgrade on the essential plain black t. I love this – I’ve got enough pairs of light weight, wide leg trousers to wear this with as well as a cream linen (ish) jacket from Uniqlo that will take it up a notch if needed. It’s £39, in a 95% modal blend and goes from S to XXL HERE.
