Without fail, every time spring rolls around I get a sudden burst of energy to revamp my closet. Out go my puffy coats and crusty snow boots (at least until next fall) and in come the gauzy fabrics, the fun patterns, the soft colors, and of course…linen. And this spring and summer especially, I’ve made the conscious decision to just wear more of what makes me happy and puts a smile on my face.
Enter: this gorgeous blue floral linen matching set from Gap. Yes, it’s a set, not a dress. And yes, it really is as easy and breezy as it sounds.

The Case For A Linen Matching Set: The Outfit Shortcut We Deserve
Let’s start with the obvious: matching sets are basically Garanimals for adults. They offer you the benefit of looking polished and put-together without thinking too hard about it. You can wear it to brunch, to more formal events, or even just lounging barefoot on the deck with a glass of wine – and each time I’ve gotten compliments (and that rare combo of looking like I tried, but also feeling comfy).
This linen is the good kind, too. It’s light and breathable and not scratchy or stiff. And the floral print is 100% me: it’s soft and muted and vintage-inspired while being slightly romantic – without veering into ‘my grandma’s couch’ territory. And if the floral isn’t doing it for you, this set also in red, white, black and there here is also a great black/white gingham option.
More About This Gap Linen Matching Set
What I really love about linen matching sets is their versatility and how they can also be worn separately. Worn together, it’s a vibe – effortless and chic, like you might just decide to summer in the South of France but break them apart and they have the opportunity to be worn as completely different outfits. This set is the wardrobe addition that keeps giving: elevated without being precious and cute without trying too hard.

Styling the Top: I’ve already worn the cami several times with my favorite pair of denim jorts from Madewell, but seeing as it’s my ideal going-out top, so I will be pairing this tank with alllll the jeans in my closet that I can get away with, like one of my three pairs of Free People Moxie jeans paired with some minimalist sandals for a casual/yet put-together feel, or with my favorite high-waisted flared jeans, a cute woven belt and a pair of platform sandals or clogs, or with a flowy white cotton maxi skirt and some low-profile sneakers.

Styling the Skirt: I plan on pairing this drawstring tied-waist linen skirt with a simple white tank top, I’m thinking it will look cute with my new favorite fitted rib knit racerback tank from Social Threads and a pair of sneakers. I’d layer the look with an oversized denim long-sleeve shirt or jacket for cooler evening temps. This skirt would also be super cute with a plain ruffle-trim baby tee or boxy cropped tee.

Fit Notes: The cami is made from soft, yet heavyweight linen-blend fabric. It has spaghetti straps with tie detailing at the shoulders and a smocked back. and I found the chest area to fit a little snug, perfectly fine in the waist. The linen-blend midi skirt features an elasticized drawstring tie-waist and one side slit. Both the top and the skirt come in regular, petite and tall sizes from XXS – XXL.

About the Jewelry: I’ve finally started to build up a solid daily lineup of jewelry that I am very happy with. It’s taken me a couple of years to collect each individual pieces but if it’s not obvious already, I am a big fan of blue (and green) especially anything turquoise. My necklace is from Raising Surfers and is currently still available in our very own TME Shop. My parents gifted me this gorgeous vintage turquoise cuff which they found on eBay. I am also a big fan of browsing through Etsy’s vintage turquoise jewelry, they have an unending amount of cool jewelry I could spend all day looking at.

About the Bag & Sandals: I am so happy that gladiator-esque, strappy flat sandals are coming back into style because there are so many good options and these Marc Fisher LTD sandals have everything I look for in walkable flat sandals: soft, supple leather ankle straps and a comfortable toe-loop. They are a classic and versatile pair of sandals that also come in white and in black.
This Dakota Suede Saddle Bag by Madewell has long been in my shopping cart and I’m glad I finally bought it. It’s the perfect size for any event from dinner to weddings to brunch. I love the simple yet chic hardware of the magnetic-snap flap closure. It features an adjustable shoulder strap and it’s dimensions are: 10 1/2″W x 9″H x 1 1/2″D.
