[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] New to the UK, other than lucky finds in TK Maxx (HERE), I think you’re going to like the accessible Ciroa price points. Owned by mother and daughter team, Alex and Sophie Liddy, Ciroa was founded in Australia but retailed initially in 2021 in the US. Australia became their second market (shifting 2.6 million products in one year) and now they’re here in the UK. Ciroa sells one product every 12 seconds. I’ve been sent the Raspberry & Vanilla set (this fragrance range has sold out seven times) featuring a Body Butter, a Sugar Body Scrub and a Shower Gel. Most of their collections feature sweet and fruity notes so if you’re more of a fine fragrance, Diptyque kind of a gal, move along, although I defy you not to find the idea of Cucumber & Green Apple delightful.
To the scrub. Well, it’s not like any other sugar scrubs I’ve come across as yet. If you can imagine a Play Doh meets sugar texture, that’s where we are at but I like it! It’s slightly gummy so you get the right amount of grip on damp skin and the grains are big enough to be effective without being aggressive.
It’s clearly not aimed at my demographic but meh – who cares – this is fun stuff and affordable stuff and if you have anyone under the age of 21 to buy gifts for, look no further. The Raspberry & Vanilla Body Butter reminds me in texture of The Body Shop Body Butters but it’s more keenly priced. The size is 265 ml (The Body Shop butters come in 200, £19 or 400ml) at £11.95. It feels nicely nourishing and absorbs easily. The funny thing is that it loses the fruity raspberry note once its one and becomes a bit ‘new doll’. I don’t dislike it – it reminds me of a very expensive candle I once had that I likened to a Barbie but the smell is nostalgic and evocative. Literally a few days ago, Boy Smells and Bratz launched a Doll Skin fragrance so Raspberry & Vanilla was ahead of the curve!
I like the fact that Ciroa uses Ecopure, a blend of organic ingredients that makes biodegradation happen faster, for their packaging. And I like the vibrancy of the products which is in keeping with the new trend for bright and bold beauty on our shelves – the opposite of the pared back ‘Manhattan loft’ style of products we have become used to. Other than QVC and their own website (HERE), I’m not sure yet which retailers we will find Ciroa at (they may stay direct to consumer via their website) but I cannot imagine them not talking to Superdrug.
Finally, I noticed gluten as an ingredient (hydrolized wheat gluten) so if you’re gluten free, please check the labels.
