Anh created a beautiful updo for Bruna Marquezine at the LACMA Art+Film Gala in November. Read below to see how Anh created her look and what Milbon products you can use to recreate the look for your next event.
1. Anh started by applying Milbon& Froth Blowout Foam on dry hair, smoothing it through to add subtle texture and volume without weighing the hair down. Because Bruna’s hair was freshly clean, he layered in Milbon’s Dry Texturizing Spray 4 to create grip and lived-in movement.
2. The hair was then sectioned ear-to-ear, creating a radial division. The back section was twisted into a French twist, pinned up while intentionally leaving excess hair at the crown for softness and dimension.
3. Next, Anh separated the front pieces/bangs to frame the face. The remaining hair was misted with more Milbon Dry Texturizing Spray 4 and gently twisted into the existing French twist, maintaining Bruna’s middle part for a clean, modern structure. Any excess hair in the back was wrapped into the loose bun, allowing some pieces to fall naturally for separation and an undone finish at the top.
4. The front sections were styled with a 1.25-in curling iron, creating a very soft bend, rather than a defined curl, to accentuate her facial features.
5. After adding the curls, Anh used Milbon’s Strong Hold Hairspray 7 all over the hair for a flexible hold and polish.
6. Anh then applied Milbon’s Extra Strong Hold Hairspray 10 strategically along the middle part, front pieces, and sides to lock the shape in place.
7. Anh finished by using a hair toothbrush misted with product to smooth and polish, first with Milbon’s Strong Hold Hairspray 7 to tame flyaways, then Milbon’s Extra Strong Hold Hairspray 10 to seal the look.
The final result was an elegant, relaxed updo. It was structured yet effortless, with softness through the front and crown that complemented Bruna’s features. To see more of Anh’s red carpet looks, follow him on Instagram @anhcotran.
