Ask Ashley: The Podcast That’s Keeping It Real, Raw, and Relatable

In a time when social media curates perfection, Ask Ashley stands out as a breath of fresh, unfiltered air. Hosted by best friends Ashley North and Ashley Weatherspoon, this podcast is more than just girl talk—it’s a space where deep conversations meet laugh-out-loud moments, tough love is served with a side of humor, and listeners feel like they’re kicking back with their besties. From building a six-figure podcast from scratch to balancing careers, friendship, and self-care, these powerhouse women prove that success and sisterhood go hand in hand. As they gear up for their most exciting season yet, they sit down to talk about life, business, and why keeping it real is their superpower.

Balancing Deep Conversations with Fun

HH: Your podcast is all about keeping it real. How do you navigate deep, sometimes uncomfortable conversations while still keeping things light and fun for your listeners?

Ask Ashley: We’re still figuring out that balance! Our podcast is really just our weekly check-in, so sometimes we go a little too far and have to cut things out (because not everything needs to live on the internet forever). But our rule is simple: speak first, edit later. We’d rather be our most unfiltered, authentic selves and deal with the consequences later—because what’s life without a little risk?

The funny thing is, conversations that might feel “uncomfortable” with others don’t feel that way when you’re talking to your best friend. That’s your safe space. Our listeners can feel the trust we have in each other—the way we leave room for honesty, tough love, and, when necessary, some very selective listening. Some days, we’re giving heartfelt advice; other days, we’re just roasting ourselves. Either way, it’s always real.

Juggling Careers, Podcasting, and Friendship

HH: You both have incredible careers outside of podcasting—Ashley North as a celebrity stylist and creative director, and Ashley Weatherspoon as a writer and entrepreneur. How do you juggle it all while staying true to yourselves?

Ask Ashley: The best part of having a real best friend is having a built-in hype woman. We genuinely believe in each other, and that makes all the difference. We’re not just holding each other accountable in our podcast business—we’re cheering each other on in our personal careers, too.

If Ashley N wants to pitch a new client, Ashley W is already making the deck. If Ashley W has a speaking gig, Ashley N is the first one to hear the run-through (and provide brutally honest feedback, of course). When we thrive individually, our collective success is even greater. So, juggling it all? It’s easier with a partner in crime who just gets it—we’re each other’s career wingwoman, sanity check, and occasional “girl, go take a nap” reminder.

Beauty, Self-Care, and Confidence

HH: Beauty and self-care are huge parts of confidence and authenticity. How has your personal beauty and hair journey evolved, and do you have any go-to tips for busy women?

Ask Ashley: Ashley W is a huge believer in making time for the hair salon—no excuses. Growing up, her mom took her every two weeks, and she’s kept that same routine as an adult. For her, it’s more than hair maintenance—it’s a biweekly therapy session.

Ashley N, a working mom, wishes she had a secret beauty hack, but the truth is? It’s about fitting it in when you can. One thing she has mastered is turning her bathroom into a sanctuary. From drugstore acne treatments to TikTok skincare finds, her bathroom shelves are stacked. Once the kids are asleep, she lights a candle, turns on some music, and transforms her space into a mini spa. Self-care isn’t always about finding extra time—it’s about making the most of the little moments you do have.

Turning Passion into a Thriving Business

HH: You invested $30,000 into your dream, and now Ask Ashley is a six-figure podcast! What advice do you have for women who want to turn their passion into a business?

Ask Ashley: Everything in life requires investment. Want to lose weight? You have to invest time in the kitchen and the gym. Want to develop a skill? That takes time and money for study materials and resources. Starting a business is no different.

When we launched Ask Ashley, we took a hard look at our finances and asked, Where can we cut back? Instead of Uber Eats, nights out, and impulse buys, we started redirecting money into our dream. We started small—recording on Zoom with cheap mics. But as we fell in love with the process, we reinvested in studios, proper recording equipment, and podcast hosting.

Our biggest advice? Choose profitability over popularity. Going viral is cute, but making real money from your passion is even better.

Maintaining Friendship Across Time Zones

HH: Friendship is a major theme of your podcast. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned about staying close while living on opposite coasts?

Ask Ashley: The hardest lesson? You’re going to miss things. Ashley W won’t be there for every birthday party, school recital, or basketball game Ashley N’s daughters have. Ashley N won’t be there when Ashley W takes a pregnancy test or comes home from a bad date. And honestly? That sucks.

What saves us? FaceTime. It’s our lifeline. We don’t just use it for quick check-ins—we use it constantly. Whether it’s ranting while folding laundry, watching TV “together” from separate couches, or debating an outfit choice before heading out, FaceTime makes the little moments count. And work keeps us connected, too. One of us is on the opposite coast at least once or twice a quarter, so even when we don’t plan to see each other, the universe (and our jobs) make sure it happens.

What’s Next for Ask Ashley?

HH: What can listeners expect from this new season, and why is Ask Ashley the podcast they need right now?

Ask Ashley: This season is everything you already love—but turned all the way up. You can now watch us on YouTube!

Expect our favorite segments like TV Time, @dearyoungqueen Meme of the Week, Things I Saw on the Internet, and Question Time, but with even more laughs, messier girl talk, and plenty of “Wait… did that really just happen?” moments.

And let’s talk about life updates—because things have changed. Ashley N is navigating single life, co-parenting, and big career moves. Meanwhile, Ashley W—single for seven years—is now in a relationship and remembering what it means to be someone’s girlfriend again. So yeah, the perspectives? Different.

We’re also bringing in fresh new guests to tackle everything from religion and parenting to dating and personal growth.

The world is a lot right now. If there was ever a time to check out of the chaos and tap into some sisterhood, fellowship, and pure comedy, it’s now. Ask Ashley isn’t just a podcast—it’s a community. So if you’re ready for bold conversations, hilarious storytelling, and friendship that withstands time zones, this is the podcast you need in your life right now.
