For the press tour of How to Rob a Bank, Anh Co Tran created effortless, textured waves for Anna Sawai that felt relaxed, chic, and modern. Styled to complement her Saint Laurent look, the finished style balanced soft movement with subtle texture for a lived-in finish.
Here’s a closer look, step by step, at how Anh created the style.
Products Used
Step 1: Prepping the Hair
Starting with damp hair, Anh applied three pumps of Milbon&’s Monochromatic Froth Blowout Foam from roots to ends to provide body, heat protection, and a smooth foundation for styling. He followed with one pump of Milbon’s Smooth Luminous Bodifying Oil from mid-lengths to ends for added softness and shine.
He then rough dried and smoothed her hair using the ATO Boar Bristle Round Brush No.6.
Step 2: Creating Waves
First, Anh established Anna’s center part. He then combined two of his signature techniques – Nu Waves and Lived In Waves – to create natural-looking movement.
Anh sectioned the hair in back, then used a 1.25-inch curling iron set to 400° to style each bottom section with Nu Waves. After continuing with Nu Waves around the perimeter, he began alternating between Nu Waves and Lived In Waves throughout the remaining sections, working from the bottom up. Combining both wave techniques created soft variation and an organic finish.
Step 3: Details & Texture
Once the curls cooled, Anh worked two pea-sized amounts of Milbon&’s Monochromatic Velvet Texturizing Cream through the hair for definition. He pieced out each individual wave and applied Velvet for separation and effortless texture.
Step 4: Finishing the Style
To complete her style, Anh misted Anna’s hair with Milbon’s Flex Memory Hold Hairspray 7 to maintain movement while preserving the look.
Because it was a warmer day, he finished by applying Milbon’s Firm Hold Shielding Hairspray 10 at the roots to secure any lingering flyaways and help the style stay polished throughout the day.
The Results
The final look was effortless, touchable waves with natural texture and movement. The relaxed yet polished finish perfectly complemented Anna Sawai’s Saint Laurent styling for the How to Rob a Bank press tour.
