Saba Sams’ Send Nudes (a short story collection) was one of my favourite reads last year, and her debut novel won me over just as quickly. Following two women whose connection sits somewhere between friendship and chosen family, we’re taken through the timeline of their relationship when one takes off without a word after giving birth. I read the book over a weekend and found it incredibly moving. It comes out in May, but you can pre-order it from now — it’ll be a nice surprise for the summer if you do.
Waterstones Gunk by Saba Sams, $, available at WaterstonesI love a Blank Street matcha and their white chocolate version is my favourite. Lighting the candle at home brings the essence of that drink to my bedroom. The scent isn’t overpowering, but it’s noticeable and pleasant to have in the background while working, and even unlit I catch whiffs of it when I walk past. I’ll be saving the glass when the wax is burned through to store makeup in.

Not just a deep brown, they have a dash of rich purple too, making them the chicest cookware you’ll ever see. I love autumnal colors — I think most of us agree it’s the best season — and this way I get to see them all the time while making dinner. Having such luxurious, aesthetically pleasing cookware makes me more excited to try new recipes, not to mention the absence of potentially toxic materials Our Place is so known for bringing peace of mind. If I invite you over for dinner, expect to see these on the stove.
Our Place Cookware Duo, $, available at Our PlaceFirstly, just look at these. I feel so ridiculously cool-creative-Londoner when wearing them. The color of the caps and cushions is customizable with a mix of combo options, so you can really tailor the design to your tastes. But, it’s not style over substance.
They’re the most comfortable headphones I’ve worn, being nicely padded on my head. This does make them more bulky in my bag, but I’ll take that over the slight ache thinner headphones give the top of my head. And as for the sound, they’re so crisp and clear. On the mobile app, it’s easy to play around with the equalizer for enhanced bass, and there are options to toggle between just how noise cancelling you want them to be. At full power, nothing is coming in between me and my music. They’re an investment piece, but as with Dyson products on the whole, the quality stands up. I’m confident I’ve got years of use ahead of me in these. It’s also easy to replace the ear cushions as you can buy them separately and swap them out if after heavy use they get scummy. Not many brands offer that ability to fix and replace isolated parts of the device.
Dyson really does the best tech. My favorite hairdryer is from them, and now my favorite headphones too.

If you can’t afford fresh flowers to fill it (hello, cost of living crisis) then simply put it on display as its bare self. In my flat, none of my vases are tucked away — including this one from Made.com. With its abstract, wonky appeal, I just adore it. When the light hits it, it truly shimmers.
Made Rhea Vase in Natural, $, available at MadeMy kitchen cupboards are brimming with basic white dishes (just like most London renters!). So, it’s a wee treat to add a splash of colour to really brighten things up as we get closer to spring. These Le Creuset pasta dishes are truly lovely. They’re slightly heavy which I like, and the gorgeous sea salt shade makes me think I might just be in the Mediterranean for a mere moment.
Le Creuset Stoneware Pasta Bowl, $, available at Le CreusetIf I could wear my favorite pyjamas all day, every day, I would. I’m not the kind of laidback girlie who slips on a vintage tee and shorts and heads to bed. No, my sleepwear is ultra comfy and… dare I say it: chic. One of the best brands in the nightwear business is definitely Eberjey. I’m already in possession of two pairs of PJs from this brand, and now I’ve added one more to my coveted collection: a powdery pink pair (I’m usually dressed in black so this is a welcomed change!). Made from Tencel modal, these are super soft and simply a dream to sleep in.

Photo: Courtesy of Kristine RomanoI love trying new food items so when I was introduced to Northern Pasta, it was a no-brainer. Admittedly, the packaging design is what drew me in at first but I can confirm the pasta is delicious too! It comes in a few different fun shapes but Radiatori is my favourite. Not only does it hold sauces beautifully, it also cooks in just four to five minutes — a bonus if you’re impatient like me come dinner time. As for flavour, it’s made from regeneratively grown British Spelt, which gives it a nice bite and a unique nuttiness that I really enjoy.
Northern Pasta Co. Radiatori, $, available at Northern Pasta Co.I was gifted this planner for Christmas, and it’s honestly been one of the best additions to my nightly routine. I don’t really use it as a traditional planner — instead, I jot down three to four things I want to remember from each day as a way to practice gratitude and have something to look back on. The quality and craftsmanship of the journal itself is amazing. The paper is nice and thick, so no worries about ink bleeding through! There’s also blank space next to each week for notes or short journal entries, a thoughtful detail I really appreciate. So far I’ve managed to write in it every day since January 1st. Here’s to hoping it sticks!

The sleek design looks great on our kitchen counter, no matter which way you face it, but the real selling point is just how multifunctional it is. It’s not just a toaster — it also works as a grill and panini press. As someone who loves a good toastie or tuna melt (and just eats a lot of bread in general), it’s exactly what I needed. It’s also great for reheating leftovers (like pizza) and heats up in no time. A huge plus when I’d rather not fire up the oven for small things. I found it really user-friendly straight from the box and overall the level of customisation that’s possible is unlike any other toaster — or appliance — I’ve owned. I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of what I can do with it!

Photo: Courtesy of Alicia Lansom.Okay, since I’ve stopped drinking alcohol, my pool of options has grown increasingly small. Given that a peppermint tea only goes so far, I’ve broadened my horizons to Three Spirit’s non-alcoholic elixirs. I went for a trial pack so I could try a bit of everything, and the Nighcap is definitely my favorite (a deep, smooth, caramel-ish flavour). Each bottle has a different active botanical element so that each drink has a different feeling and flavor. While they can be enjoyed straight, each spirit alternative has a suggestion of what mixer it pairs best, which makes it easy to create a tasty and non-boring soft drink.
Three Spirit The Starter Pack, $, available at Three SpiritI have Bowers & Wilkins overhead headphones that are truly one of my favorite pieces of tech, but sometimes (especially when you want to carry a little cute bag) you need something a bit more compact.
These Pi6 in-ear buds are ideal for running about on your commute and most importantly have adaptive noise-cancelling to drown out the deathly sounds of public transit. Holding eight hours of single-use charge (and getting up to 16 more from the case), the sound quality is top notch for music. Unlike most ear buds you don’t sound like you’re underwater when taking a phone call. Plus, they come in cute colorways like Glacier Blue and Forest Green, so I’m sold.
Bowers and Wilkins Pi6, $, available at Bowers and WilkinsOkay, so remember what I said about my new no-alcohol approach? Well, I’ve also cut out sugary drinks, too. That’s right, I’m no longer indulging in the sweet, sweet nectar that is soda — but that doesn’t mean that I’m not still craving a carbonated beverage every 30 minutes.
Enter: fizzy water at home.
While some people despise sparkling water with a passion (shout out to the many celebrities on the Off Menu podcast), I personally find it to be crisp, refreshing, and, when including a freshly cut lemon wedge, a god damn treat. Out of all the options on the market, the The Carbonator 3 from aarke feels like the Rolls-Royce, with its shiny steel exterior, slim line gas canisters and stylish, Scandi-designed ergonomic handle. Of course, the main draw of the carbonator is how much plastic it saves from no longer buying shop bought bottles (each cylinder provides 60 refills), but it also doesn’t hurt that it looks utterly chic on a counter top, too.

Uniqlo Colorful 50 Socks, $, available at UniqloAlong with a set of new socks, I’ve also been refreshing my period underwear collection — only sexy and exciting picks from me this month, kids! Jokes aside, I love my period pants. These boxer-style shorts from Wuka are my go-tos for the start of my period when I’m at my heaviest flow and extra bloated because they’re so comfortable (no wedgies!). It’s a splurge, but I decided to stock up on a five-pack so I sorted every day of my cycle.

Photo: Courtesy of Venus Wong.I’d call myself a packing expert, and my number one tip for having an organised suitcase is to own a collection of little pouches that you can easily repurpose as toiletries bags or tech wallets. My latest favourite is from Cult Beauty’s collaboration with HUSH. This drawstring bag is roomy enough to hold all my makeup and brushes, and I just love the dark cherry colourway and the heart-shaped charm.
Cult Beauty Cult Beauty x HUSH Make-Up Bag, $, available at Cult BeautyAs someone who is constantly hunched over a laptop, I routinely get bad migraines and eye strain. I started using Therabody’s newest iteration of the SmartGoogles and it has frankly made a huge difference. The blackout eye mask comes with three massage modes that tackles stress, eye strain, and poor sleep quality — with sensors detecting your heart rate and finding the best vibration frequency to match. What I appreciate the most is the fact that there are three heat settings, so I personally find heat to be the best tension relief. Whenever I feel like I can’t stare at a screen any longer, I pop this gadget on with the SmartRelax mode at the highest heat and vibration setting and listen to my favorite podcast to unwind. It works like a charm.

Papier Le Classique, $, available at PapierI’m a sucker for a good candle — who isn’t?! — which is why I simply love this new scent from INITIO. With notes of natural oud wood, agar wood oil, lavender, saffron, patchouli, and musk, it’s gorgeous. The comforting, fresh smell instantly brightens any room and lingers for ages — turning my bedroom into my very own personal spa.
I’ll admit the price can feel a bit steep for personal use, but it’s the kind of thing I’d split with my sister as a gift for my mum — and I know she’d be over the moon.
INITIO Oud for Greatness Candle, $, available at INITIOI needed to replace my mattress topper (I’ve had it for TOO long, it’s so tea stained and gross you’d think it was from the 1800s). The best kind of replacement is the kind that you don’t even really notice. My bed is just as cozy as it was before, but definitely firmer with a new elasticity. I was worried my old memory foam topper was getting too soft and ruining my back. This topper from Panda London has straightened me out. Made from bamboo, the topper is cushy but firm — it feels just like my bed, but better.
Panda Bamboo Mattress Topper, $, available at PandaEvery now and then, you need to purchase an investment piece. Something that is a lil’ bit more expensive but worth it because you know it’ll last a really long time.
Continuing with the bed renovation theme, I decided to get this snow white bed set from Bedfolk. I’m a sucker for a linen bedsheet and this one did not disappoint. Soft, crisp and crinkled in all the right places, I never want to leave my bed again and have been getting overly excited to return home from a busy fashion week for a little snooze (it’s the little things!).

Photo: Courtesy of Humeara Mohamed.Spring is in sight, people! But alas, my dog walks still come with a large side of mud, followed by a grumpy dog in the bath for dessert.
Enter: this oh-so cool (dead cool, one might say…) dog shampoo, which makes the whole experience a wee bit more bearable. It smells like a real human perfume, with delightful notes of bergamot, cassis and vanilla that’ll have you sniffing your pet’s head for fun.
DedCool Pet Shampoo 01 “Taunt”, $, available at Space NKLego! For me! At the ripe old age of 27! Who’d have thought? While my brother would rip through BIONICLE set after set during childhood, I was never a Lego girlie. Instead, I’d opt for something that gave me a better sense of instant gratification. I was a short-attention-spanned Gen Z before it was cool, apparently. What I have always adored, though, is a pretty bunch of flowers — you can almost always find me at the flower market on Sundays. So, when I saw these Lego flower bunches flood my feeds during Valentine’s week, I was hooked. Could this be the mindful activity I was looking for? The answer is: yes. As it happens, an hour of building Lego flowers each day is exactly what my nervous system needs.
LEGO Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet, $, available at LegoDespite being babies ourselves, my sister only went and had a one! She’s a delightful little one, and I’m already first in line for babysitting duties. However, as someone who’s never really been obsessed with kids, I was not prepared. This called for an emergency visit to the Baby Bjorn website, where I promptly fell in love with all of the pink bits and bobs. (Pink is my favorite color, FYI.) This baby carrier is an expensive investment for sure but I love it, and it makes time with my niece so much easier, because I can still go about my day and use my hands while holding her. The color is pretty but not too saccarine, and there are multiple clips and settings to adjust its size as the baby grows. I fully expect this to last an age, which will be ideal if I ever decide to have a child of my own. For now, this is a must-have for my all-important “cool aunt” role.

Photo: Courtesy of Jessica Aureli.Anyone who’s spoken to me for more than 10 minutes knows that I’m obsessed with my Bialetti espresso alarm clock. While I’ve always remained loyal to one tried-and-tested espresso blend (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, etc), February is a pretty quiet month, so I thought I’d really push the boat out and use the time to broaden my coffee horizons a bit. The winner by a decent margin was Origins’ Stronghold blend. Rich, mellow (we don’t want no acid here) and with notes of dark chocolate, fudge and brown sugar, it is a delight to wake up to in the morning. It’s worth nothing that it’s about twice as much as my beloved [redacted], and I’m surprised the subscription option doesn’t provide a permanent discount (instead you get 25% off your first three orders only), but given the brand’s commitment to sourcing high quality beans and maintaining sustainable relationships with its producers, it makes sense — no harm, no foul.
Origin Stronghold, $, available at OriginI’m just going to say it: I’m sick of lugging around my laptop, packed lunch and gym gear in a HUGE backpack. It makes me feel simultaneously like a turtle and a little kid on her first day of school. It also puts a strain on my back and shoulders, which feels counterintuitive to the fact that the reason I’m carrying around half this junk is to take care of my body. So I’ve done it. Like a granny with a shopping bag, I’ve introduced wheels to solve the problem.
This little Brics suitcase, which I believe is called a pilot bag in some instances (pilot instances, presumably), is perfect for carting around everything I need for the day, with just a small shoulder bag or backpack picking up the slack for little bits and pieces like my phone, wallet, etc. If I have a day that requires three pairs of shoes (trainers, slides for the gym showers, and something a bit less casual, for example), this bag has my back, no sweat. Obviously there are cheaper options, but having used their luggage for years, I know Brics is good quality, and it matches my existing set, which makes me feel in control in a world beset by chaos.
