Among the finest options of Sky TV is now accessible from these less expensive rivals

Sky Q users have long been able to pick up their remote control, press the voice search button and bark numerous orders at their set-top box. Since introducing this technology in 2017, Sky has been busy updating things so customers can now find content, skip ads, switch channels, and even record favorite shows without scrolling through endless menus.

The new Sky Glass TV, which has just gone on sale, now also has an impressive voice search that makes watching TV easier and making it much easier to find programs on numerous platforms.

It’s clever, but unfortunately these systems aren’t cheap as the basic Sky Q package costs over £ 25 a month and Sky Glass costs over £ 38 once you add Sky’s content catalog.

If all of this sounds a bit rich, there’s good news from streaming service Roku, which is announcing the introduction of a new remote control with full voice control.

So far, Roku has only shipped this improved remote control with its higher quality devices like the Streaming Stick 4K and Streambar.

That has changed as of today, because customers can now purchase the clever channel changer separately.

That said, if you already own the entry-level Roku Express Stick, now you can make it even smarter by adding these new accessories.

Roku says its voice remote is available at stores like Very and Amazon and costs just £ 19.99.

Just like Sky Q and Glass, you can search for actors, directors, movies, and TV shows. Plus, with the latest Roku OS 10.5 update, you can also dictate email addresses and passwords with your voice instead of using the on-screen keyboard.

Finally, you can use your voice to start channels, start a favorite show, or even listen to music albums.

Commenting on the update, Roku’s Mike Duin said, “With the Roku voice remote, you can just say what you want to see. Just press the voice search button and search for actors, directors, movies and TV shows with the latest Roku OS 10.5 update, you can also dictate email addresses and passwords with your voice instead of using the on-screen keyboard. Do you already know what you want to see? Get in directly! With Roku Voice Remote, you can use your voice to start channels, watch a favorite show, or even listen to your favorite album. “

Roku promises that its new voice remote control will be compatible with the latest Roku players and Roku TV models.
