A little bit-known Sky and BT broadband competitor gives low-cost TV and free Amazon Prime

Sky and BT are some of the biggest television and broadband brands nationwide, but consumers who ignore some lesser-known competitors risk missing out on some amazing deals. Following the government’s push to bring gigabit-enabled fiber to more homes, a number of new companies have sprung up to offer high-speed fiber broadband, and one of them, Community Fiber, is now offering television channels to users.

Community Fiber serves large parts of the capital and plans to expand in the coming months. It has now teamed up with hardware company Netgem to offer customers a brand new TV service using their super fast fiber.

This package, called Community FibreTV, contains a 4K enabled TV set-top box that can record and pause live television and is fully compatible with Alexa voice control. This set-top box also offers access to over 135 channels as well as popular streaming services and 30,000 hours of on-demand content.

In addition to all the usual content from iPlayer, ITV, All4 and My5, there is also a range of premium TV channels such as Premier Sports and La Liga TV, as well as 1,000 additional on-demand films and documents. You even get YouTube Kids as part of the bundle.

Community Fiber may not be a household name, but it certainly gives its bigger rivals a run for their money. The company is now offering consumers 3 Gbps broadband speeds that allow households to download a Full HD movie in less than 30 seconds.

BT and Virgin Media continue to invest in their networks but their fastest possible speed is 1Gbps.As mentioned, Community Fiber is currently limited to London, so this TV upgrade is only available in parts of the capital.

Community Fiber says service is expanding rapidly in Brent, Camden, London, Croydon, Ealing, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Islington, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Richmond-upon-Thames, Southwark, Sutton, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and Wandsworth and Westminster.
