A brand new Magic Android telephone believes it might probably repair Samsung’s largest flaws
Samsung has long been a leader when it comes to foldable smartphones, but it’s soon to be challenged by a brand new competitor and it could fix one of the biggest flex screen issues. The Chinese company HONOR, which was part of the Huawei brand until it split in 2021, has just unveiled its first flexible device called Magic V.
One of the main features of this smartphone is that it has a 7.9 inch display that does not show any kinks when fully opened. This is something that Samsung’s foldable devices have long been criticized for, as they can be hugely distracting when trying to munch on a box set.
In addition to this technology, this phone certainly has many other things to offer, with Honor boasting that when folded it has a 6.45-inch OLED display that, when folded, has a wider aspect ratio of 21.3: 9, which makes it much more useful.
Both screens also have a fast refresh rate of 120 Hz for smooth scrolling and smooth gameplay.
Another area where the Magic V could beat its biggest rival is in the raw performance of this new phone with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G processor. This chip, manufactured by Qualcomm, was announced late last year and offers more performance, better efficiency and improved camera functions.
Speaking of snappers packed into this phone, the Magic V gets a quad camera array powered by AI with a 50 MP rear camera and a 42 MP front camera.
Users are pampered with all the usual photo functions, including breathtaking night shots and the ability to zoom in on the subject to be captured.
HONOR also promises professional shots thanks to impressive AI that automatically optimizes settings to ensure images look top notch.
If design is important to you, the Magic V has a waterdrop hinge that makes things thinner than most foldable ones, and it’s made from a high-strength titanium alloy that not only makes it light but also withstands the odd drop or two on the sidewalk .
“We are very excited to launch our first foldable 5G flagship, the HONOR Magic V, which shows our expertise and innovation in system design and our commitment to always delivering a first-class user experience,” said George Zhao, CEO of HONOR Device Co, Ltd. “HONOR has strong ambitions to become the top performing smartphone brand in the premium foldable product market and we are confident that our first foldable flagship will be very competitive compared to existing models.”
There’s no word on the price or release date yet, but don’t expect this device to be a bargain as most foldable devices of this size cost well over £ 1,000.
